Getting in the Spirit at The French Market

San Rafael, Calif. - The Marin Outdoor Antique Market, also known as Le Petit Marche' "The French Market", will continue to delight us in 2012. The market will be held on the Second Sunday of the month June through October. June 10, July 15, Aug. 12, Sept. 9 and Oct. 14.

The French theme adds a special atmosphere, especially with crepes being made by Laurent, owner of Brittany-Crepes and Galettes. French music both live and recorded are played throughout the day.... listening to Maurice Chevalier will put a dance in anyone's step while looking for treasures from the past.

The show, has expanded every month since it began. Requests for the Antique Market to continue year round have been made by both vendors and shoppers. This is a possibility that will be looked into by show co-coordinators and the Marin Center management, stated a recent press release.

The Antique Market is located at the Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium Parking Lot in San Rafael, CA. Admission and parking are free. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information call 415-383-2252.

SHOW REVIEW: Marin County Christmas 2010

Golden Gate Shows presented the 26th annual Christmas Show, Dec 11-12, 2010 in Marin County. The festivities began even before guests entered into the main exhibit hall. An entrance of vintage toys, Steiff animals and vintage Christmas decorations delighted the crowds as they stepped into the booth of Denis's Den.

The furniture in the booth of East Bay Antiques was decorated for the holidays. The show overflowed with exhibitors and shoppers. James Griffith's vintage lamps lined the corridor which led to the main exhibit hall. Christmas lights covered the ceiling and holiday music put both shoppers and exhibitors into the sprit.

Place Bellecour provided a booth of furnishings and art with a focus on quality, aesthetics and fair prices. Jewelry sparkled in the booths of Avenue Antiques, The Burton Collection, Nora's, Heirloom Estate Jewelry and The Bakelite Lady.

Pottery, advertising, prints and post cards, silver and coins, American Indian collectibles, advertising and art filled the hall. Each booth was an adventure on it's own with exhibitors sharing a world of knowledge with shoppers.

Some of the newer exhibitors to the show included: Steve's Antiques, Ron's Whimzichlls, Blue Moon Antiques, Antiques etc., Churchmouse Antiques, Papillon Gallery and Double "N" Antiques.

The next Golden Gate Show will be the Marin County Spring Antique Show on Mar. 12-13, 2011 at the Marin Center Exhibit Hall in San Rafael. For information call Fern at (415) 383-2252

Today's Vintage
The Marin County Antique Show  held Dec. 12-13, 2009 was Golden Gate Show's 25th annual Christmas Show.

The dealers brought their very best and displayed their wares with great taste.

Fine art and furniture was found in the booth of Lance Jekel. There was vintage jewelry in the booth of Laura Eavery. Fine jewelry and antiques were present in Vyrnie Bannatyne's space and Gary Linscott displayed a wide variety of antiques and collectibles. Young sports collectors turned out and enjoyed the booth of Bob Mosher.

Most of the dealers at the show are long time participants and I consider them to be a family of dealers. They have a passion for collecting and readily share their expertise with attendees at the show. Comments I overheard about the show were "Most
beautiful I have seen" and "You can get an education about antiques at this show".

The Marin County Show takes place three times a year in San Rafael, Calif.: March 13-14, Aug. 21-22 and Dec. 11-12. Look for the Vintage Jewelry Show in Sausalito, Calif., on May 1-2 and Nov. 13-14. For information log on to www.goldengateshows.com.

Lance Jekel exhibits fine
art and furniture.
Gary Linscott offered variety.
Bob Mosher's booth attracted young sports enthusiasts.
